The Natimuk Recreation Reserve became a hive of activity that catered for everyone’s tastes on Saturday.
The shearing competition attracted a large crowd who were enthralled by the skills of the region’s top shearers.
The pavilion once again showcased a variety of talents from photography and art work to flowers.
Free entertainment for children proved to be a massive draw card for families. However, the bouncy castle, rock climbing wall and carousel were no match for a big pile of sand for children to dig into.
Natimuk Agricultural Show secretary Judith Bysouth said the show was a great success this year.
She said she was pleased the committee offered a diverse program.
“It makes it an enjoyable day for everyone because we have such a diverse program. There is something for everyone to enjoy,” she said.
While the show had a wet start, she said the sun was out shining in the afternoon.
Mrs Bysouth said all the show attendees appeared to have had great family day.
She said the shearing competition went off without a hitch and attracted great crowds.
“The ambiance is pumping throughout the grounds because of the way it has been set up and with all the children’s activities to keep them entertained,” she said.
“It is lovely seeing the children running through the puddles and diving onto the sand pit – it has been a hit with the children.”
While entries for the pavilion were slightly down this year, Mrs Bysouth said the standard did not drop.
Natimuk’s Erin Smith attended the show with her daughter Chelsea.
She said the free entertainment for children was fantastic because her family could have heaps of fun.
“We did get very far before we got stuck at the rides. (My daughter) is have a great time on the carousel,” she said.
Mrs Smith said her family always attended the Natimuk Show because it was important to support the town’s events.
Clear Lake’s Kim Muscat said the Natimuk Show offered her family a relaxed family day away from the farm.
Miss Muscat said she wanted to show her support for the community and keep local events alive for future generations.
Natimuk’s Sarah Tottenham recently moved to the town and attended the show for the first time.
She said the free entertainment for children was fantastic because it made the Natimuk Show a fun and inexpensive day out for her family.
