Brian Thorogood is walking between the two cities in a bid to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House.
He came through Horsham on Friday.
“I started on March 8 and I’ve been going slowly but surely,” he said.
“I’ve got a few blisters, but it’s not going too bad.”
Mr Thorogood is pushing a trolley full of toys as part of his journey, which he has called ‘500 miles of hope’.
“The distance between Adelaide and Melbourne is about 500 miles,” he said.
“I’ve blown one tyre on the trolley so far, but hopefully it holds up the rest of the way.”
Mr Thorogood said he had had lots of support from the community so far.
“When I’ve gone through towns, people have been wonderful,” he said.
“Other people have stopped me along the ways or beeped their horns as they drive past.
“People have also been donating money along the way.”
Mr Thorogood said he hoped to reach Melbourne in about two weeks.
“I wanted to do something that would help children and the Ronald McDonald House is an organisation that is used all around the world,” he said
“The more people that know about Ronald McDonald House, the greater its impact.”
Mr Thorogood said people could donate money online at rmhacreateyourownevent.everydayhero.com/au/500-mile-trolley-push.
