Set on the banks of the Wimmera River, there will be plenty of prizes up for grabs as anglers of all ages try their luck.
President of the Jeparit Anglers Club Rohan Viljoen said it would be a big weekend for the town.
There has been heaps of excitement. It’s an annual event and what it brings as far as visitors to the town is quite phenomenal,” he said.
“People are already getting their spot, are camped out and getting ready for the competition.
“The river is looking quite healthy at this stage.
“So many people come to town for the event and it goes to show how much the river means to the community.”
Mr Viljoen said the fishing competition encouraged children and teenagers to get involved with the popular pastime.
“We differ to the other fishing competitions as our focus is on the recreational side of things for children so they can carry on the tradition,” he said.
Registrations open on Friday from 12pm till 6pm, and will reopen on Saturday from 6.30am with fishing starting from 7.30am.
In the senior category, the top prize winner will take away $2,000, with the junior winner claiming $250 and a swag.
