The official opening included music by the Nexus Youth Centre, a barbecue from the Rainbow Lions Club and a workshop by skaters from Trinity Skateparks.
The skate park was developed and constructed by Trinity Skateparks from the Sunshine Coast.
Hindmarsh council Mayor Ron Ismay said children have been at the skate park from as early as 7am until night time.
“The kids were just itching to get on here and they’ve been on it ever since it was finished,” he said.
The skate park was unofficially opened at the start of March.
“There are kids here every day of the week, I’ve come past here plenty of times… and there has been six or seven kids here at 7.30 in the morning,” Cr Ismay said.
“It’s great to see the kids enjoy it. It’s good to see them get outside, out of their rooms and get off the Xbox.”
