“I’ve been at Laharum forever and I grew up there so I’ve been there for nearly 30 years,” she said.
She is currently the playing coach of the C Reserve team and is close to playing 250 games for the club.
She said she plays for the love of the game and has enjoyed seeing the C Reserve team all become friends.
“I don’t always play to win – I just enjoy playing and having some fun with it,” she said.
“The last couple of years being a coach has been great. We have had some really fun teams and everyone has bonded. I think the past couple of years I’ve enjoyed the most.”
MacInnes said playing in C Reserve has been a mixture of fun and competitiveness.
“We have a bit of fun with it in C Reserve,” she said.
“The last couple of years we have made finals, so we have been quite strong. It filters down from our A Grade. Even though we have some fun we seem to be doing well.”
MacInnes is following in the footsteps of her mother Debbie when it comes to netball.
“Mum has now lived in Laharum longer than she’s lived anywhere else and she’s been on the board longer than I’ve been around,” she said.
“I like getting involved with the community and my parents instilled that in me.
“The club is very important. It’s a place where everyone can get together. It breaks up the week from the farming and we don’t have much else in terms of facilities out at Laharum.”
