Coming into the game Kalkee was third playing the fourth-placed Swifts in what shaped up to be a close contest.
The Swifts could not make any inroads in the first half, managing just three behinds.
It was a different story for Kalkee, who scored 9.11 (65) in a first half that put the game’s result beyond doubt.
Jayden Kuhne was prolific for the Kees, kicking seven majors while veteran Steve Schultz popped up for three goals.
Despite an improved second half, the Swifts could not stop Kalkee. The Swifts kicked six majors in the second half, while Kalkee went from strength to strength, kicking another nine second-half goals.
Swifts coach Scott Carey said it was a disappointing game.
“They blew us away in the first quarter and then we struggled to get back into the game after that,” he said.
“They were well-structured and their intensity was a bit higher than ours. The guys didn’t have the desire for the ball in that first half. They kicked some pretty good goals and were just up and about.”
Carey said he wouldn’t be letting his side forget about this game any time soon.
“We won’t push this aside – obviously it’s something we need to work on,” he said.
“We will review the first half especially and look to improve, we won’t shy away from a performance like that.”
