Creek will play in the Basketball Bundesliga League in Germany next season where he recently spent some time after the 2017/18 National Basketball League season.
Creek will head to America at the weekend where he hopes to play in the NBA Summer League before playing in Europe.
Creek said he felt like the decision to leave the 36ers was the right one.
“Anytime you get an opportunity you have to be excited,” he said. “I will play in two mini-camps in the USA now, one will be with the Dallas Mavericks. Then we will wait and see and I’m hoping to secure an NBA Summer League gig.”
Creek recently spent some time in Germany playing for Goettingen. He has now signed with Würzburg and said he was looking forward to playing there in the 2018/19 season.
“They are going to be a playoff team so it was really easy to sign with them,” he said.
“I had a great time there recently. The culture itself was something worth going back for. I felt like it was a better league than in Australia and it will test me more.
“It’s pretty crazy I’m doing the mini-camp with Dallas legend Dirk Nowitzki and Würzburg was actually his original team in Germany.”
Creek said he was hoping to put on a showcase during his time in the United States and then in Germany in a bid to make his dream of playing in the NBA a reality.
“Scouts there will want to see some more aggressiveness from me,” he said.
“We know some people over there which will put us in a good position and put us in front of the right coaches. I need to show what I’m like as a teammate, a person and a player.”
Creek played a big part in the 36ers’ run to the NBL finals and was named the side’s most valued player. He was also named the Basketball Victoria male athlete of the year in a stellar season for the Wimmera export.
Creek said he has some great memories from his time in Adelaide.
“It’s been eight years at the club and it’s been basically a family for me,” he said. “I came as a 17 or 18 year old and it’s where I’ve spent my life since then. It will be a hard change but I feel like I’ve made the right decision and now I’m excited for this next journey.”
Horsham Amateur Basketball Association president Owen Hughan said he thinks Creek has what it takes to break into the NBA.
“He is a professional athlete and anyone with his ability would be crazy not to be going to Europe,” he said.
“He has always had the athletic ability. It would be an ambition for any person to play in the NBA, it’s just natural.”
