Since Monday, the Mail-Times has repeatedly called Mr Broad and his media team, and emailed his office with these questions:
1. How do you respond to the allegations leveled against you?
2. What do you have to say to the people of your electorate?
3. Do you still plan on representing the seat of Mallee into the next federal election?
4. How do you respond to allegations of hypocrisy following the views you displayed in both the same-sex marriage debate and the Barnaby Joyce scandal?
The Mail-Times also called for reader questions, and emailed the following to Mr Broad’s office on Tuesday morning:
1. If Mr Broad doesn’t stand down, or is not relieved of his position as Federal Member for Mallee, how is he going to regain the trust and support of his electorate? Has he thought about how his actions will impact Emma Kealy, and what support is the party going to give her in the wake of this scandal?
2. Why don’t you resign your seat now, or at least not contest the next election?
Later that day, Mr Broad announced he would not contest the next election.
However by Thursday afternoon, he and his office had not responded to the Mail-Times’ emails and calls.
