On Tuesday, October 26, Jordan Lofthouse appeared in the Stawell Magistrate's Court via videolink where he pleaded guilty to a range of assault, driving and drugs charges.
The first part of Lofthouse's offending relates to three driving charges recorded after an off-road motorbike joyride in Horsham.
On Thursday, November 19, 2020, at 3.10pm, Highway Patrol officers observed an off-road motorbike driving erratically around Shirley Street in Horsham.
At around 3.30pm, police saw Lofthouse lose control of the bike and fell off.
Officers approached Lofthouse, but he tried to run from the police.
READ MORE:
Lofthouse was taken to the hospital with serious foot injuries.
At 4.30pm, two blood samples detected methamphetamines and cannabis in Lofthouse's system.
Officers found Lofthouse was not licenced and had never held a licence for an off-road motorbike.
The bike was also unregistered, and Lofthouse admitted to never holding a licence.
In a separate incident on June 25, 2021, Lofthouse entered the Stawell BWS at 10.21am, where he took four Woodstock cans without paying for them.
Police members were notified, and at 1pm on the corner of Cooper and Sloane streets, Lofthouse was located and arrested for theft by police.
Police members completed a search of Lofthouse, where they located a small quantity of cannabis.
In a separate incident, Lofthouse was also caught in possession of cannabis on Tuesday, August 3, 2021.
OTHER NEWS:
In a final matter, on September 18, 2021, a verbal argument led to Lofthouse breaking down the door with his shoulder at a property.
He then picked up a shovel and smashed multiple holes in the walls of the property.
Lofthouse shouted "I'll bash you" and "I'll burn youse" at the victim, verbally assaulting them.
He was later arrested by police and taken to Stawell police station, where he said he "can't remember" what was said during the altercation.
Lofthouse's defence lawyer Nick Graham said his 24-year-old client had already served some time in custody before the hearing.
"My client acknowledges his behaviours and that the assault was nasty," he said.
"He has spent 38 days in custody since the time of his arrest, and any time in custody is hard time. But he has also been locked down for the whole month except for three days.
"He is trying to move on from this part of his life, and his goals are to get on his feet, get a job and stay off drugs.
"He wants to regulate his own future, rather than have the courts do it for him."
Magistrate Tim Walsh convicted and fined Lofthouse $600 and disqualified him from driving in Victoria for six months.
Magistrate Walsh also sentenced Lofthouse to a 60-day prison term, with his 38 days in custody counting as time served.
