Aaron Bruce was named Sydney Kings' vice-captain for the 2011-12 National Basketball League season and younger brother Shaun Bruce recommitted to South-East Australia Basketball League club Ballarat Miners.
Aaron was selected in the Kings' four-man leadership group alongside captain Julian Khazzouh, Luke Martin and Luke Cooper.
Bruce and Martin were named joint vice-captains.
The 2011-12 NBL season will be Bruce's first at the Kings.
The guard returned to the NBL last season and played alongside Horsham's Mitch Creek at Adelaide 36ers.
Shaun, 20, enjoyed a solid first full season with the Miners, claiming the SEABL Golden Hands award which is calculated by adding a player's assists and steals and subtracting their turnovers.
The University of Ballarat student said he was pleased with his development under Miners coach Guy Molloy.
"There was definitely improvement from last year. At times I was at a level where I could start," Bruce said.
"The work I did under Guy in the off-season helped and the confidence he gave me is definitely why there was improvement."
The Miners finished the 2011 season ninth and Shaun, a guard, expects further development next season.
"We have a young team and another year of experience will definitely help," he said.
"We are definitely working as hard as any team in the league. It will pay off in the long run, it's a development stage for the club."
Shaun, who said staying with the Miners was an easy decision, wants to follow Aaron into the NBL.
"The ultimate goal is to play in the NBL one day. That's a goal I am working towards at the moment," Shaun said.
"Aaron and Mitch have shown hard work gets you there."
