An Angel Flight crash at Wallup in August claimed the life of Nhill teenager Jacinda Twigg, while her mother Julie was injured and died in hospital.
Victoria Blue Light State Council treasurer, Leading Senior Constable Graham Blair of Jeparit police, suggested to the state council committee that it raise money for the Twigg family.
Leading Sen Const Blair said state council encouraged each Blue Light branch to also consider donating.
The state council's call-out raised $1000 and last week Leading Sen Const Blair gave a $1000 cheque to Hindmarsh Shire Council chief executive Dean Miller for the Twigg family appeal.
A Nhill Blue Light aqua dance in late September, organised by Nhill College senior student Paige Egan, also raised $1400 for the Twigg family.
Len Twigg, Jacinda's father and Julie's husband, played drums at the dance.
"Before handing over the Nhill Blue Light cheque for $1400 to Len Twigg, Paige gave him some reminders of the event which included a large photo of Jacinda and other memorabilia," Leading Sen Const Blair said.
"Len told us he was very grateful to the community for supporting him and his family and thanked Paige and the Blue Light organisations for their contributions.
"I would like to thank Paige for taking on the task which she did in an excellent manner. It was great the youth got behind her and the event was so much of a success."
