Cook, 20, was left without a club after the Melbourne Demons delisted him without playing a game. But the 196-centimetre key forward joined the Roosters this week in a bid to resurrect his stalled AFL career.
Cook, who spent two seasons on the Demons list, said he was not looking too far ahead.
"I'm just going to take things one week at a time and just try and enjoy my footy," he said.
Cook said it had been a solid pre-season and he was looking forward to training with mates at the Roosters, including fellow Hopetoun talent Coleman Schache.
He will stay in Melbourne and study at Deakin University, but commute to Ballarat on Wednesdays for training, and train with the Roosters' AFL affiliate North Melbourne at Arden Street on Fridays.
