Sedgman competed in the women's 10-metre air rifle event on Saturday night, finishing 52nd.

She scored 387 out of a possible 400.

In a tough competition, Sedgman would have needed to shoot a personal best score of 397 to qualify for the final.

Sedgman might have missed out on a medal, but she is a winner in the eyes of many.

To be representing your country at the age of 18 in the world's biggest sporting event is a fine achievement in itself. For most of us, achieving what she already has will only ever be a dream.

Sedgman joins a select group of Wimmera athletes to have competed at the Olympics.

Her name will now be forever remembered alongside the likes of past Wimmera Olympians such as Shane Kelly, Adrian Hatcher, Lauren Hewitt and Kerri Tepper.

Sedgman's Games campaign may now be over, but she will remain in London to support her Australian team-mates.

Soaking up the atmosphere from the athlete village and from the stands will no doubt be inspirational.

Sedgman has a bright future ahead of her and is likely to get many more opportunities to compete at Olympic Games level in coming years.
