Dunmunkle Health Services president Lloyd Milgate said there would not be any change to the group’s operations, and the closure of the nursing home was not being considered.

The health service’s board of management initiated a review in collaboration with the Department of Health in June.

The review caused concerns for the Stonehaven Nursing Home within the Rupanyup community.

Residents voiced their fears for the ageing service’s future at a Yarriambiack Shire Council meeting in September.

Although the entire health service was under review, they felt Stonehaven was vulnerable because it needed to be upgraded.

But speakers felt it was a critical service, deserving of significant investment.

“It is the intention of the health service to ensure all services are maintained as the board and executive seek to stabilise the financial position, and then look to the future needs of the community,” Mr Milgate said.

Chief executive Chris Scott said consultants were appointed to ensure safe, high-quality and relevant health care would be provided to the communities of Minyip, Murtoa and Rupanyup for years to come.

He thanked the community, the Department of Health and staff members for their contributions, assistance and support while developing the report.

“Community discussions have been pivotal in gauging the service needs,” he said.

The nursing home received a $200,000 grant from the State Government last month, allaying some of the community’s concerns.

Yarriambiack Shire councillor Kylie Zanker, who was mayor at time, said she was blown away by the funding.

“It’s a wonderful move that will instil positivity in the community and improve the quality of life of the residents,’’ she said.
