Taurau has been named as the Rebels’ 23rd player for their clash with Gippsland Power at Warrawee Park, Oakleigh.
The 17-year-old will wear number 28 as the Rebels chase their third consecutive win.
Taurau has been named the Eagles’ best player in three of their past four senior Mininera and District Football League matches.
He has been named alongside eight other Wimmera players in the extended squad - including Horsham Saints product James Richards, who was named in Vic Country’s squad of 40 for the under-18 national championships on Thursday alongside Rebels’ and Saints’ team-mate Darcy Tucker.
A win would see the Rebels move within touching distance of the top eight.
