Year nine students Shane Reinke and Tim Mackley, both 14, pedalled from Horsham to Natimuk and back again twice on Wednesday.
The exhausting bike ride was as part of a year nine community project.
Shane said he and Tim had money collection tins in several Horsham businesses, such as Sportsfirst Horsham, SportsPower Horsham, Horsham Sports and Leisure, Peach's Fruit Market and Horsham Cyclery.
He said all money raised would go towards gift packs for hospital residents.
The gift packs include deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and shaving cream and shavers.
Shane said the tins would remain in shops for another week.
The boys hope to raise between $300 and $400.
Shane said the bike ride lasted a few hours.
"We wanted to do something different to everyone else,'' he said.
He did not do any training ahead of the mammoth bike ride.
Tim and Shane encouraged people to support their project.
