The musical, Through the Looking Glass, is based on Lewis Carroll’s book and is a sequel to Alice in Wonderland.
Music teacher Margaret Gork said the story followed Alice’s journey through a chessboard world, where she meets lots of characters including Humpty Dumpty and Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.
She said the students had worked on the musical since the beginning of the year.
“We started auditions in the second week of term one,” Mrs Gork said.
“Once we had allocated parts, we started rehearsals twice a week in term one and three times a week in term two.”
Mrs Gork said 43 students were involved, ranging from years three to seven.
She said the students enjoyed the musical.
“It’s a wonderful thing for them to do, especially if they are interested in drama and performing arts,” she said.
“I think they are getting a little tired of giving up their playtime for rehearsals at the moment, but now they are on the home stretch they are starting to get excited for the performances.”
Students will perform on Thursday, with a matinee at 1.45pm and an evening performance at 7.30pm.
Mrs Gork said tickets were available from the school’s offi ce.“They are $5 for a child, $7 for an adult and $20 for a family,” she said.
This is the school’s second musical, after students performed The Wizard of Oz last year.
