St Arnaud Sergeant Trevor Schmidt said a red hydraulic bearing press worth $1500 was stolen from a shed on a property in Basso Road, Emu, between June 3 and Wednesday.
He said a red and black wood splitter with a petrol motor was stolen from a shed on a farming property on the Stuart Mill-Dalynong Road, Stuart Mill, between June 10 and Thursday.
Sgt Schmidt said he was unable to rule out a link between the two incidents.
He warned farmers to lock their sheds.
“I do believe a little bit more care needs to be taken because neither shed was locked, nor were there any security arrangements,” Sgt Schmidt said.
He urged anyone with information about the thefts to call St Arnaud police on 5494 1000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
