Natimuk United officials and former Diggers executive members have planned the day to farewell the old club and commemorate the start of a new era.
Natimuk United vice-president Stuart Hall will sponsor the event and said it was about bringing together members and supporters of both former clubs.
“When we voted to merge with Natimuk, we told the Diggers members that we would have a party to send off the clubrooms and wind things up formally,” he said.
“It’s hard to organise a Saturday night event during the footy season, so we are having a Sunday event that will start out as a family day and then continue on for the adults.”
A magician will open the day for children, and there will be a gold coin donation lunch.
Mr Hall said he wanted to see old and new supporters attend.
“A lot of Wimmera people have been involved at some stage with United as either a player or supporter of football or netball, and they are all invited,” he said.
“We’ve made the day free for former members and current Natimuk United members as well.
“It’s also for club sponsors and the idea is for it to be one big party.”
Mr Hall said Daicos and Akermanis would mix with supporters and the night would finish with comedian Pommy Johnson.
Peter Miller said bookings would be necessary despite it being a free event.
He said those interested could book tickets by contacting him on 0400 824 247 or Tim Friend on 0438 077 282.
