Employee Pat Crute has bought the Wimmera fixture.
Mr McPherson said after six years of working seven days a week for 15 hours, it was time to move on.
"We've already bought another place in Wartook doing bed and breakfast and wedding receptions," he said.
The McPhersons will have their work cut out for them, after the property was damaged in the Grampians bushfire in January.
"The house was saved but we lost sheds and gardens, so there's a bit of work to do," Mr McPherson said.
He said he had enjoyed almost everything about owning the Giant Koala.
"It was mainly the animals I enjoyed," he said.
"It was good fun building it up - we built the zoo and rebuilt the koala."
Mr McPherson nominated the filming of the 2009 movie Charlie and Boots and the BigPond commercials as highlights during his ownership.
"I enjoyed meeting a lot of different people and characters," he said.
And Mr McPherson's take on why Australians like 'big' things?
"We're just unique," he said.
