Horsham Agricultural Society and Wimmera Legacy have teamed up to organise the Horsham Show Fleece Competition and the Wimmera Legacy Fleece Show.
The Horsham Show event will be on September 30, with the fleece exhibition running until October 1.
Wimmera Legacy’s annual fleece show will be on October 23 at Legacy House in Pynsent Street, Horsham.
Wimmera Legacy event organiser Bill McGrath said he was delighted the two organisations could cross promote their events in an attempt to raise the profile of wool growers in the region.
“We have some excellent wool grown in the district and this is an opportunity for them to showcase their product to a wider audience,” he said.
Horsham Agricultural Society junior president Dalton Cross said the society hoped both stud farmers and hobby farmers would enter fleeces at both events.
“In addition to the merino wool section, we have introduced a new category for hobby farmers and included crossbred wool in our fleece competition,” he said.
Mr McGrath encouraged Wimmera wool growers to submit their entries to both events.
He said producers could also donate a fleece to Wimmera Legacy to support their fundraising efforts.
“We are grateful to all our sponsors, particularly Horsham Wool which is the major sponsor for the Wimmera Legacy Wool Show,” he said.
Mr McGrath said people could call him on 5382 6253 or the Horsham Show office on 5381 1187 for more information.
