WANT to be in a movie without that pesky stardom factor?
Here's your chance.
Wimmera people can show why they should feature alongside Hollywood superstars during a casting session in Horsham next week.
The movie adaption of Rosalie Ham's novel The Dressmaker will be partially filmed in the Wimmera later this year.
Producer Sue Maslin said there would be casting sessions for extras in Horsham on Monday and Tuesday next week.
She encouraged anyone from age 12 to 90 to consider auditioning for an extras position.
"We're looking for people who have been living in the area for a long time,'' she said.
"Usually there's lots of pretty young girls - that's not what we're looking for.''
Instead, casting directors wanted all sorts of country people to be extras.
Ms Maslin said people interested should call casting director Charlotte Seymour on 0419 392 259 or email charlotte@filmartmedia.com.
She said people must register ahead of the casting sessions, at the Horsham CWA.
Titanic actor Winslet will star as Tilly Dunnage in the film, set in the fictional town of Dungatar.
A team scouted the Wimmera for possible locations to film the movie adaption.
Ms Maslin said scenes in the Wimmera would be filmed within a 40-kilometre radius of Horsham, but was unable to confirm where.
She said she and Ham had looked at small towns around Horsham.
"The town Dungatar is set among the wheatfields of Victoria's Wimmera-Mallee,'' she said.
