Dr Rainsford said the forum would be in the first two weeks of November in Balmoral.
She believes the ailing reservoir should receive water but said more information was needed from experts on the logistics of filling it.
“It’s about information and communication. It’s a workshop, not a rally,” Dr Rainsford said.
She said if elected, she would push to fund a management plan for the reservoir.
“We should start the management plan for Toolondo as a matter of urgency,” she said.
“It’s not like a big shallow lake, it’s a deep reservoir that’s an effective reservoir for this area.”
Dr Rainsford said the workshop would aim to investigate a change to the shape of the reservoir, how much water was needed and where it should come from.
She said she was keen to get former Southern Grampians mayor and Balmoral resident Mick Leeming at the workshop due to his experience on GWMWater consultative committees.
Dr Rainsford said it was a shame water was highly politicised, preventing GWMWater’s experts from being involved.
“It’s not about being political. You want their brains and their knowledge at the table, for heavens sake.
“They are left out of the equation and it’s not healthy and it’s not helping.”
