Jan-Maree Bennett and her son Reggie bought the business in December.

Mr Bennett said Australia Day was a great way to introduce the new Royal Hotel to Horsham.

‘‘We wanted to throw a party as a sort of housewarming,’’ he said.

Mr Bennett said the celebrations would start at noon on Monday.

‘‘We’re hoping people will come dressed in their Australia Day gear,’’ he said.

Mr Bennett said the hotel would play the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown all day.

He said there would also be drink specials and a free barbecue.

Mr Bennett said he expected a lot of people to enjoy the festivities. ‘‘I’ve had a fair bit of interest on Facebook,’’ he said.

He said if the day proved popular, it could become an annual tradition for the hotel.

‘‘I reckon we’ll keep it going every year,’’ he said.

Mr Bennett encouraged people to visit the Royal Hotel to celebrate Australia Day with friends.

‘‘It saves messing up your own house,’’ he said.

‘‘Get around the local pub.’’
