Mrs Puls said the idea to put together a display of knitted and crocheted creations came to her on Anzac Day last year.
‘‘I was in Melbourne walking along Swanston Street and I saw this card saying Melbourne was going to have 5000 poppies at Federation Square,’’ she said.
‘‘I thought it would be a good idea to do something in Horsham.’’
Mrs Puls said more than 40 people had contacted her for patterns to make poppies, which will decorate the Horsham Cenotaph on April 25.
Mrs Puls said she wanted to make this Anzac Day particularly special for the 100th anniversary of the battle of Gallipoli.
‘‘It’s part of our tradition – Australia grew up in the First World War,’’ she said. ‘‘I think it’s important we keep commemorations going.’’
Mrs Puls said the commemorations were close to her heart, as her father was killed working as a missionary in Papua New Guinea during the Second World War.
Mrs Puls said donations were welcome until Anzac Day.
She said people could call her on 53821815 for patterns or more information.
