Memories from the Roos' Round 18 loss looked evident when the Saints got within four points late in the third term.
But Gary Davidson's men produced a sensational final quarter to knock the Saints out in straight sets with the 12.16 (88) to 8.7 (55) win.
"I'm just happy we bought our game to the table. Our ball use was fantastic and we held tough when we didn't have it," Davidson said.
Davidson labelled Thomas Magee's running goal early in the final term as the momentum shifter, and the Roos never looked back.
"We needed something to kickstart us and get the momentum back our way," he said.
Forward duo Peter Macfarlane and Daniel Baker were outstanding for the Roos, booting five goals apiece and setting up a number of team mates.
Clancy Bennett was instrumental through the midfield, with big man Jackson O'Neill making his presense felt, and running defender Daniel Baker working hard all afternoon.
The green-and-golds looked the far better side early in the match, but failed to capitalise on the scoreboard. The Saints were dealt a massive blow midway through the first term when key player Brendan Ward was carried off with a suspected knee injury, but it didn't stop them from kicking two of the opening three goals.
Dimboola hit back late in the first term, kicking three of the last four goals before quarter time to hold a 10-point lead at the break.
The competition's leading goal-scorer, Lachie Exell, was also finding his feet after a slow start to the game, teaming up with Macfarlane for five first-half goals.
The second term belonged to Dimboola, who took a 23-point buffer into half-time.
The Saints came marching back after the main break, with the budding midfield brigade of Sam Lehmann and Jacob O'Beirne running hot.
A three-goal-to-none third term gave Brendan Broadbent's men a real sniff of victory as they got within four points at three-quarter time.
Dimboola desperately needed a lift, and they got it through Thomas Magee who kicked a brilliant running goal to give his side some breathing space.
Goals were at a premium in an intense final stanza, but when Macfarlane booted his fourth midway through the term, he put the game out of the Saints' reach.
The Roos will face minor premiers Horsham in Sunday's preliminary final.
