Dr Racunica will be in Horsham on Friday October 23 for a Living Well with Arthritis seminar organised by Arthritis Victoria.
Despite one in three Australians carrying the disease, Horsham does not have a full-time rheumatologist, and is affected directly by the state and national short-fall in resources.
Dr Racunica visits Stawell every three months with Maninder Mundae and Joanne Hall to provide face-to-face services for new and urgent patients.
Tele-conferences are being hosted as well to help those who miss out on the face-to-face appointments.
Dr Racunica said the seminar would provide helpful information to the community.
“I’ll be talking about what a rheumatologist is and what we’re looking for and the different types of arthritis,” she said.
“What we want to try to pick up is inflammatory arthritis because it’s a different kind and if we catch it earlier, it’s easier to treat.
“I will be discussing ostioarthritis as well, which is something that’s able to be self-managed.”
Arthritis Victoria began a partnership with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in 2014 to offer services to people in rural areas struggling with the condition.
The seminar will be hosted at Horsham RSL Club from 5.45pm to 8.30pm.
The cost is $5 and registrations close on Friday October 16.
