The story of the giant goanna found in Albury this week has gone viral across regional Victoria.
Eric Holland was just killing time in his shed when he came across the mature Lace Monitor in his backyard.
“I was just doing a repair job in my shed when I opened the door and I saw this huge thing run across the ground and out of sight,” Mr Holland said.

Readers across Victoria have joined in with pictures of their own goannas they have spotted.
Bendigo Advertiser reader Tania Werner said they get massive ones in their Diggora backyard, “and we love it as it keeps snakes away”.
Wimmera Mail-Times reader Sandi Brookin said she had to "give way" to a 3-metre-plus goanna on Horsham Road in Dimboola a couple of summers back. “He strutted his stuff and crossed the road like a boss,” she said.
