The Ararat pair have joined the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners in delivering supply to farmers in the drought-stricken areas of New South Wales and Queensland. Ian received high praise as the hay runners made their way up to Ilfracombe, a town about 30 kilometres east of Longreach.
“Ian Taylor was also our amazing auto electrician for the convoy. Thank you Ian for all you support and coming on the trip, you are wonderful,” Belinda Cushing wrote on the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners Facebook page.
The hay runners began their 1860 kilometre journey to central Queensland last Thursday. It is estimated 120 trucks carried 4500 square bales and rolls of hay on 138 trailers. The road trains will each haul about 40 tonnes of hay.
Rotary Club of Sydney is currently accepting donations. Deposits can be made to: BSB 062-438, account number 10211156. Description: Drought appeal.
