Member for Swan Hill Peter Walsh announced on Friday the government would provide $15,890 towards air-conditioning for the main hall and kitchen.
Hall committee secretary and treasurer Marie Ballinger said the community was thrilled with the news.
"The air-conditioners will be a real benefit to the community," she said.
"We have quite a few elderly people in the Rupanyup population. There are quite a few funeral services in the hall and if you get a hot day for one of those, it's too hot.
"We already have an air-conditioner in the supper room which has been a real success."
The hall was built in 1920 and seats up to 250 people. It is used for a number of events, including balls and community days. It was also used for emergency catering when Rupanyup was flooded during the 2010-11 summer.
Mrs Ballinger said the hall committee would purchase split-system units to provide both heating and cooling.
"We have been waiting for a few months for this grant and we are all very pleased to receive it," she said.
"It will be very helpful."
The total cost of the project is $27,045.
Mrs Ballinger said Rupanyup Major Events, Rupanyup RSL, Rupanyup Minyip Finance Group, Yarriambiack Shire Council and the hall committee had all contributed money to the project.
