Horsham Motor Sports Club secretary Emma Bansemer said the track was being reshaped.
"It is a maintenance project that needed to be done," she said.
"The track was getting thin, so we've been moving dirt from the infield onto it."
Bansemer said the club was also creating more room for spectators.
"We are extending the spectator bank, which will mean spectators can park their cars on the edge of the track," she said.
"This way they'll be able to see all the action without getting out of their cars."
The new season starts on October 20.
Bansemer said the club was excited to secure the Victorian Street Stock Titles this season, which it will host in March.
"This is a big thing for the club we are pretty excited," she said.
"It will attract cars from all over Australia."
Horsham's Winton Scott is one of the volunteers who has been working hard at the track.
Scott said he hoped the upgrades would help attract more junior members to the club.
"It would be great to see more junior members," he said.
"Speedway is a great sport because it teaches juniors a practical life skill of how to control vehicles.
"They also learn a lot of mechanical skills but the important thing is it is giving them experience and will make them more proficient when they get their licences and are on the roads."
