Horsham went through last season without a win, but an array of big name inclusions will help its cause.

Coach Damien Kilpatrick said last season's efforts were not short of embarrassing to the Hornets' name. He said the aims of the coming season were to restore some pride and get a few wins on the board.

"After the shemozzle in the CBL last year where they were winless and got poleaxed every game, it hurt our name of Horsham Hornets," Kilpatrick said.

"This season we thought we would try and make an impact in the CBL and keep basketball alive in Horsham, so we've gone out and recruited all the gun basketballers who have gone to football and a handful of the Big V boys who are keen to do a full pre-season."

Last season's Big V leading point scorer Tim Pickert, Ballarat Miners guard Cam Bruce, former All Star forward Mark Dorward and big man Tim Wade will all be welcome additions to a side lacking experience.

 "It's going to be mindblowing for some of the other CBL teams when they see how some of these guys play basketball," Kilpatrick said. 

He said the side's youngsters were ready to take the team to the next level. 

The Hornets start their CBL campaign against Colac next Sunday at Horsham Basketball Stadium, with tip off at 1pm.
