Horsham school students have helped build the garden with financial support from GJ Gardner Homes.
Horsham Agricultural Society president Dalton Cross officially opened the garden on Friday as part of the Horsham Leisure Roadshow at the showground.
The project is designed to raise the showground’s profile and engage the community.
The garden contains herbs that the society will sell to maintain the garden.
Horsham’s St Brigid’s College students are among those who have worked on the project.
The school’s year 11 Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning students have been nominated for a Horsham Tidy Towns Protection of the Environment award for their work.
This award recognises outstanding achievement in the protection of the natural environment, with particular focus on the conservation, preservation and management of fauna and flora.
Horsham Agricultural Society’s Andrea Cross said people could visit www.gofundme.com/3yscunac to donate to the garden project.
