Mr Brooksby was heading to Stawell from Horsham on Tuesday morning last week when he saw a car stuck beside the highway.
“I went past and I thought I should help them out as they were only in a Hyundai,” he said.
“A lady had tried to turn around on a dirt road and went over the table drain and got bogged.”
The female passenger of the car was flagging down traffic. When Mr Brooksby got closer, he thought he recognised the male passenger.
“She said ‘thanks for stopping’ and I thought the guy looked like Coxy from Coxy’s Big Break,” Mr Brooksby said.
“I didn’t say anything about it but then he said something in that big voice and I knew it was definitely him.”
The passengers turned out to be TV travel show host Geoff ‘Coxy’ Cox and his wife Vivien.
Coxy’s domestic and international travel show airs on Channel 7 on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Mr Brooksby used his Toyota Hilux and a snap strap to pull the car out of its bog within 15 minutes.
Coxy was then able to get to a meeting in Horsham.
“I pulled them out, got a bit muddy. They asked if I’d like a photo,” Mr Brooksby said.
Mr Brooksby later shared the photo on Facebook.
“I watch Coxy’s Big Break. Not religiously, but I’ll watch if it’s on,” he said.
