Principal Kate Harney said the long-waited playground, which was opened by last Monday, was greeted eagerly by students.
“They love it,” she said.
“They couldn’t wait to play on it when they drove past on the weekend.”
Mrs Harney said the school had been interested in upgrading their 15-year-old playground for some time, but the change was made possible because of the Parents and Friends Association.
“For 12 months we’d been discussing it and wondering if we’d have enough money,” she said.
“One former student, a grade six last year won a competition that gave the school a Etihad Stadium Box.
“The P and F through selling raffle tickets for the box raised $10,000 towards the playground, then the school put in the rest.”
Mrs Harney said the school wanted to upgrade the playground due to increasing enrolments.
