St Kilda’s Gerald VanDerWerf has been missing since September 25.
Halls Gap Senior Constable Kelly Harris said police had received more information and would resume the search for the man.
She said police, search and rescue teams and the mounted branch would search the area.
Senior Constable Harris said Mr VanDerWerf was an experienced hiker but his condition was unknown.
In September police said they and Mr VanDerWerf’s family held concerns for his welfare as he had a medical condition.
Police appealed for public information and said the 56-year-old drove to the Grampians and travelled in a grey 2005 Toyota Hilux with Victorian registration TSV 522.
The Toyota was located by police in a car park on Grampians Road, Bellfield near Halls Gap.
Mr VanDerWerf is described as Caucasian, with a thin build and short greying hair.
