Thousands of people converged on the Longerenong event this week.
Field days manager Murray Wilson said crowd numbers were well up on the past few years.
“The past few years we had had poor seasons and the weather was hotter,” he said.
“When it’s hot, people tend to go home earlier, but this year, there was still people at 4pm and 5pm each day.
“Security has had to ask people to leave the site at 6pm each night.”
Mr Wilson said there was a great atmosphere at this year’s event.
“Exhibitors wanted to see lots of activity and sales and that’s what has happened,” he said.
Mr Wilson said a good harvest in the region had also contributed to the crowd boost.
“When we have good seasons, it brings the people to the event,” he said.
“People want to see a great agriculture showcase.
“For the exhibitors – the most expensive part of the field days is transport and freight, but when there are big crowds, it justifies those expenses.”
Emmetts sales and operations manager Asher Kinsman said he was really pleased with the crowd.
“We had a lot of genuine enquiries, which we haven’t had the past few years,” he said.
“We moved to a larger site this year and it’s been really good.
“All the customers seem to be really positive – a good season has made such a difference.”
Mr Kinsman said there had been a lot of interest in sprayers and seeding equipment.
“We’ve had a lot of enquiries from people getting ready for cropping,” he said.
