Joel Rohan Fowler appeared in Horsham Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to speeding.
The court heard Fowler was driving west on the Wimmera Highway at Murtoa between Flume Road and the Yarriambiack Creek on December 2 at 8.01am.
He overtook an unmarked police vehicle and police detected Fowler’s speed at 140 kilometres an hour in a 100 kilometres an hour zone.
After he was intercepted, Fowler told police that speeding was the dumbest thing he had done that day.
He said he was trying to get to Horsham for a meeting.
Magistrate Steven Raleigh fined Fowler $583.
Fowler’s driver’s licence was suspended for six months.
