The Federation University group was the first to submit an entry in the much-anticipated annual event.
Last year, Horsham East Rotary donated $10,000 to the centre. This year’s goal is to raise at least $8000 for an oncology chair - an important piece of equipment in the new centre.
These artists have been painting together for many years.
The group has shared their passion for art as students, studying together at some stage, and now as artists in their own right.
The Federation University group also participated in last year’s fair, with several of the artists awarded prizes.
Art fair coordinator Chris O’Connor said that the response to this year’s fair has been positive, with about 50 per cent of bays being sold to date compared to last year’s entries.
“It is my hope over the next month that we will exceed last year’s entries,” Mr O’Connor said.
For the first time, the fair is part of the Art Is Festival.
This year celebrates 40 years of Horsham East Rotary Club hosting the event.
“Club members on the night will be dressing in 70s style and we encourage guests to also come dressed in vintage clothing,” Mr O’Connor said.
Opening night will be held on Friday, June 9, and the fair will remain open for public viewing and sales until 3pm, Sunday, June 11.
The rotary club has elected to donate a percentage of the proceeds again to Rachael’s Wish - Wimmera Cancer Centre Project.
