The group, led by Horsham’s Enid King, are avid gardeners and use their skills to grow, pick and put together posies of chrysanthemums to sell. Chrysanthemums are traditionally given as a gift on Mother’s Day and this year the group of 27 sold 453 bunches to raise $2267 for Rachael’s Wish.
“We just wanted to do something to help and this was our best way of doing it,” Mrs King said. “Everyone rallies together to get it done.
“This is the second year we have done this for Rachael’s Wish. Last year we raised $1600 so we are just amazed we were able to raise so much this year.”
Wimmera Health Care Group acting chief executive Mark Knights said the group was a perfect example of how the community has come together to raise funds for the cancer centre.
“There are 27 people involved just in this fundraising cause and there are lots of groups and individuals out there who have raised funds.”
