THE votes are in after football action returned to the Wimmera following the long weekend.

Sam Clyne’s lead has extended to eight votes after round seven of the Wimmera Football League was played on Saturday.

The Horsham Saints midfielder picked up five votes in his side’s loss to Stawell as Nhill teammates Jake Harrap and Billy Hayes leap-frogged into second place overall.

Dimboola’s Ben Miller was the only Wimmera player to receive maximum votes in the round.

Two players in the Horsham District Football Netball League received the maximum nine votes in round eight. Matthew Butler’s performance in Edenhope-Apsley’s loss to Harrow-Balmoral on the long weekend saw him attract votes. Hamish Exell again attracted top votes for the way he led Kalkee against Laharum on Saturday.

Jason Kerr’s lead on top of the table extended to five votes courtesy of a seven-vote game in Noradjuha-Quantong’s loss to Jeparit Rainbow. Laharum’s Todd Heynen is in second, with Taylors Lake player Jye Smith in third.

Two players will be crowned the Champion Footballers and win a trip to the Gold Coast courtesy of the Mail-Times and Helloworld Horsham at the end of the season.
