Blue Ribbon Spirit of Football and Netball Award winners

Harrow Balmoral U/17 netballer Febey McClure is round 12’s winner of the Spirit of Netball award.

Febey is very passionate about the sport and travels home from school in Ballarat every weekend to play and also is involved with our A Grade team.

She has represented the Horsham District League for the past two years in the U15s interleague team and the Wimmera Mallee as part of the U15s team at the State Titles in 2016 and will again in 2017.

She is currently involved in the WestVic Uni Academy of Sport in Ballarat learning about all aspects of netball on and off the court.

Will Brennan, Natimuk United U/17 footballer, takes the round 13 Spirit of Football award.

Will, in his first year of Under 17s, was a leader and integral part of the Under 14 team. He is an athletic footballer who shares his time between football and a successful volleyball career.

While Will has had much individual success, he is selfless and team-orientated.

It is not unusual to see him give the ball to a younger teammate even though he is in easy range of a goal. He is a very talented sportsman who sets a great example for his teammates.

The round 12 winner of the Blue Ribbon Spirit of Football award for the 2017 Wimmera Football League season in Minyip Murtoa U/17 footballer Dominic Hateley.

Dom is a wonderful young man who started playing football only a few years ago and has excelled with his sheer determination and love for the contest.

His ability to tackle, spoil, and win the hard ball is what sets him apart on the field and his attack on the football is second to none.

No matter the score, everyone knows that Dom will being giving 100 per cent to win the ball and help the team.

This alone will allow him to be a great player for many years to come and we are all excited for his future at Minyip/Murtoa.

Nhill U/17 netballer Sophie Cole is the round 12 winner of the Wimmera League/Blue Ribbon Foundation Spirit of Netball Award.

Sophie is a great asset to netball at Nhill. She shows both passion and enthusiasm in her play-making and in every game she plays.

She is extremely fair on the court and exudes team spirit on and off the court and is regularly heard calling out encouragement to her teammates at training and on game day.

Sophie has advanced her netball skills and understanding through pursuing umpiring at Nhill.

She has recently gained her C Badge for umpiring.
