The tree was in memory of Kyle Bunting, who was killed in a car crash on November 22 last year.
Mr Bunting’s son Jaxon attends the kindergarten.
Teacher Melissa Spiller said the tree was not only in memory of Kyle, but for Jaxon and his family.
“Jaxon has returned for his second year of kinder. When he lost his dad we weren’t able to do anything, so we thought this would be a good time to plant a tree and remember him,” she said.
With the kindergarten due to move to Horsham’s Kalkee Road Children’s and Community Hub, Ms Spiller said they decided to plant the tree in a pot.
“That way we can move the tree to the Kalkee hub and it can continue to grow and Kyle’s memory will always be celebrated,” she said.
Ms Spiller said it was a very difficult and emotional time. She said Jaxon’s mum and grandma were invited to watch Jaxon plant the tree.
Horsham Bunnings donated the tree that was planted.
