Horsham’s Aidan James Schumann, 25, appeared in Horsham Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to drug-driving.
The court heard that Schumann was driving on the Hume Freeway at Balmattum on February 12 at 4.52pm.
Police intercepted Schumann and he was drug-tested.
The test was positive for methylamphetamine.
Schumann’s lawyer Andrew Moore said Schumann had had a fight with his girlfriend, was upset and took the the drug.
“He is now employed at a place that requires regular drug screens,” he said.
Magistrate Mark Stratmann said Schumann had an appalling start to his driving career.
He said in the past few years, Schumann had had many other driving offences and rule breaches.
“It is clear you are not safe on the road at all,” he said.
“You are skating on extremely thin ice and the prospect of you going to jail is real.”
Mr Stratmann convicted Schumann on the charge and fined him $1200.
His driver’s licence was cancelled and disqualified for 10 months.
