Owner Damien Cook said he was looking at new ways to move the business forward.

He said the shop would move to a new location in Hamilton Street, Horsham, next month.

Horsham Cyclery started in the city in 2000.

“Merv Thompson originally started the business,” Mr Cook said.

“I worked with him and eventually bought it off him about five and a half years ago.”

From there, Mr Cook tried to make it his own.

“Sales have been up and down over the years,” he said.

“The internet is a big factor for us, so we focus more on service now than sales.

“Service is the big thing, because you can’t get that anywhere else.”

About 12 months ago, Horsham Cyclery moved from its original location in Wilson Street to a smaller store, a few shops down.

“We are now moving to Hamilton Street, which is great because the building has rear access, which will make loading and unloading easier,” Mr Cook said.

“There is also a lot of parking around there – although the street does seem to be filling up with new shops.

“In our first location in Wilson Street, the space was great, but people struggled pulling out of the parking spots.

“The new venue will be much more convenient for customers.”

Mr Cook hoped Horsham Cyclery would be in its new home by mid-November.

He said they had done a lot of work to the building.

“We fully gutted the space, which has been a bit of fun,” he said.

“The move has been stressful, but it also means I can do things my way and start fresh.

“I’m hoping the new building will be really nice.”

Mr Cook said Horsham Cyclery specialised in just about anything with wheels.

“We do kids’ bikes, tyre tubes, mobility scooters, wheel chairs, racing bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes – a bit of everything,” he said.

“We’ve also helped with restoration of old bikes over the years.”

Mr Cook said he was looking forward to the next chapter of the business.
