The postal survey asked: Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?
If the survey receives a ‘yes’ majority, the law will be put to parliament for a vote, however, a change is not guaranteed.
If a ‘no’ majority is received, the law will remain unchanged and not be put to parliament for a vote.
Wimmera Pride Project co-founder Maddi Ostapiw said the group has organised a gathering to see the results released together.
The event starts at 9.45am at Horsham’s Up Tempo. She said the gathering was open to all ages.
Ms Ostapiw said no matter the result it was important for the LGBTQI people be surrounded by a supportive community.
