Carols by Candlelight co-ordinator Joe Perry there would be fireworks again this year – but organisers would ask patrons for a gold coin donation to cover a shortfall in grants funding.
“The barbecue starts at 6pm. We sell sausages – that’s how we help fund the evening. Every little bit helps to cover the cost,” Mr Perry said.
“There will more than likely be a visit from the man in red and the fireworks will go at approximately 10pm.
““There are battery-powered candles available on the night an free programs.”
Mr Perry said face painting and fairy floss would be available, as in previous years.
“The amount of people we get varies according to weather conditions,” he said.
“We usually have about 1000 people. We had 2500 people in the park one year when everything went beautifully. It’s hard to judge as there is no fixed seating.”
The event is at the Alexandra Gardens.
