Turbointersections are designed to allow more continuous flow of traffic in certain lanes.
VicRoads’ western region acting regional director Mal Kersting said the authority wanted to make the intersection of Stawell Road, O’Callaghan’s Parade and McPherson Street safer.
“Potential options include redesigning the roundabout to improve traffic flow from Stawell Road and separate vehicles turning into and out of O'Callaghan’s Parade,” he said.
“We look forward to sharing the final designs to the community in early 2018.”
There have been nine crashes at the intersection in the past five years.
The intersection upgrade will be part of a $20-million Western Highway upgrade between Stawell and the South Australian border.
