Emergency services were called to Mitchell Road, Ararat between Campbell Street and Grenvillea Court just after 9pm.
Three CFA vehicles were able to bring the fire under control and declare the incident safe within 30 minutes.
Ararat Fire Brigade captain Greg Taylor said the fire was being treated as potentially suspicious and CFA fire investigators had visited the scene on Thursday morning.
Ararat Police said they had no information they could release at this time.
