The Adams family had an instant connection with the handsome dog and could not wait for him to join the family.
With a love for labradors, Jo Adams said adopting Fletcher was one of the most easiest decisions to make.
“I grew up with labradors and my husband and I had one before we had children and we always intended to have another one,” she said.
When the opportunity presented itself, Mrs Adams said she jumped at the chance to adopt Fletcher.
“When Fletcher came along, it was just fate,” she said.
“I remember Carolyn (Stow, of Horsham PAWS) sent me a message to say they had a labrador and we jumped at the opportunity.
“We went to the park to meet him and the children loved him right away. It was just perfect.”
Fletcher was 18 months old when he was adopted in August 2015. Mrs Adams said his age made him the perfect match.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to get that perfect match because they have developed that personality,” she said. “He was at that stage where he had already dug someone else’s garden up and chewed someone else’s shoes. Now he doesn’t have any bad habits – they’re all gone.”
She said Fletcher was a loyal dog.
“He just loves to be around people. No matter where we wander off to he just follows along and sleeps at your feet. He just wants to be close to you all the time,” she said.
“Being a labrador, he obviously would do anything for food.”
Brett Adams said Fletcher’s child-like nature was his favourite thing about him.
Mr Adams said he had so much humour.
I was a firm believer that dogs should be outside. But, that didn’t last long with Fletcher.

“I was a firm believer that dogs should be outside. But, that didn’t last long with Fletcher. If you kick him outside he will just give you this look and be like, ‘really you’re kicking me out? Come on’,” he said.
One of Fletcher’s favourite past times was going on walks with Mr Adams. He said every night Fletcher has his lead and collar ready while he puts his sneakers on.
“Every day is the same. We do our walk and then he sits outside Woolworths while I go in to get groceries. He loves it because all the children come up to him and he thinks it’s great,” he said.
Georgia, Paige and Thomas Adams said Fletcher was the best dog.
“He’s just so friendly and love everyone. We love taking him for walks and teaching him new tricks,” they said.
